Antistatic Material Specifications:
Problems can occur in manufacturing, handling, shipping, assembly and use of electronic components and equipment when static electricity is present. When two materials interact, electrostatic discharge (ESD) can result. To avoid damage to ESD sensitive items, it is necessary to create an environment that limits the ESD. This can be done by selecting proper packaging materials that rapidly dissipate electrostatic charges.

A conductive material conducts an electrical current to ground. A dissipative material will also conduct an electrical current but will dissipate the current and drain the charge.

• Antistatic PVC (Typical physical properties)
  This film made to/meets the following specifications:
  - Static decay rate of 500 V to O V in 2 seconds or less*
  - Surface resistivity 1 x 109 to 1012 ohms/sq. in.
  - Discahrge is less than or equal to 100 V.
  
  *The static decay rate (test method: MTL-B-91705-C & EIA-541) of 500 V to O V in 2 secods or less refers to a decay rate from 500 V in 2 seconds from any voltage (i.e. 1000 V-1000 V, etc. in 2 seconds).
  This is the standard used throughout the industry. If you require the PVC film to meet a different spec please supply it and we will try to meet it.
